A Second NEW Option

A few weeks ago, we published a blog post and sent out an email to our subscribers about a new band heater option: the Monel sheath. Thermal Corporation is proud to announce a second new band heater option this Fall. We can now manufacture our high temperature mica band heaters with a latch and trunnion closure system attached to the heater! We have had several customers request this option in the past, and once again we, at Thermal Corporation, have listened.

Latch and Trunnion Closure System

A latch and trunnion closure system allows for quick closing of a heater and eliminates the time consuming process of starting a bolt into a threaded barrel nut. Once the latch is secured, a nut is tightened against a spring, which provides a constant closing force even as the band heater expands on startup.

Construction of a Latch and Trunnion

Our technicians begin construction by using a stainless steel outer sheath and welding stainless steel tabs onto the sheath. This gives us the ability to roll the heater before we attach the latch and trunnion system. This is an important step in making the heater the appropriate diameter per the customer’s specifications. The latch and trunnion is too bulky to go through the rolling process, thus it must be attached once the band is already rounded.

Monel Option Now Available for Thermal Corporation Band Heaters

You Asked, We Listened!

Thermal Corporation is now offering a new option for our mica band heaters — sheaths and straps made from Monel material!

What is Monel?

Monel is an alloy that is primarily composed of nickel and copper. It also contains small amounts of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicone. Monel’s appearance is similar to that of stainless steel. Because of its resistance to corrosion and acids, Monel is often used in caustic atmospheres.

Several of our Thermal Corporation customers have requested band heaters with Monel sheath. And we listened! Thermal Corporation can now make band heater sheaths, both inner and outer, out of Monel! We can also use the Monel material to construct band heater straps.

Two days ago, a customer called in a rush order for a ceramic band heater. The order was entered at 10:04 A.M. Jonathan came up to us at 10:58 A.M. with the heater in hand, which had already undergone final quality check, ready to ship! When the customer was contacted and informed, he said, “You are a lifesaver.”

The Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce releases a monthly magazine called Initiatives. Initiatives features interesting news articles about the work in which local Huntsville/Madison County companies are involved. These news articles involve changes in Huntsville’s involvement in aerospace and technology, as well as advancements in many other industries. Initiatives also features pages in which local companies can appear to help bring awareness to their business.

In 2018, we at Thermal Corporation began to discuss how Initiatives could help bring some local awareness to our company. So in November of last year (2018), Debra Kimbrel, Ushma Singh, and Shelby Reece of the Thermal Corporation Marketing Team, sat down with Lydia Pennington, Patti Walker, and Kristy Drake from the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce to discuss appearance in the magazine’s 2019 releases. This is the first time we have worked with the Chamber of Commerce to appear in the magazine. We are so excited to announce that Thermal Corporation will be appearing in a total of three editions of the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce Initiatives magazine in 2019!

Thermal Corporation has just released our 2019 product catalog with major updates to the entire design. The front cover features an image with a variety of Thermal Corporation products including some cartridge heaters, a band heater, a rectangular band heater, a HotNoz nozzle band heater, and a handful of thermocouples. The front cover also announces that this is our 50th year in business! But, more about that later. The catalog has an easy-to-follow Table of Contents page which shows the starting page numbers for each section of the catalog, which is broken down into our product categories.

What’s New

  • Quality page – a page about our quality improvement manufacturing standard
  • Company History page
  • Custom Design Orders Information page
  • Office building photo
  • Appendix section – a section with additional information on certain products in an easy-to-read format
  • Real photographs of certain products
  • Product diagrams on section pages
  • Thermocouple Codes/Conductor Combinations & Characteristics Chart – this was excluded in the previous catalog but has been featured in older Thermal Corporation catalogs. We have decided to bring it back!

Major Changes

  • Separate Table of Contents Page – the table of contents now has its own page
  • Layout of Catalog – each Thermal Corporation product has its own color-coded section and all the information about that product is under that color unless otherwise specified in the catalog.
  • Contact Information Location – now located towards the front of the catalog instead of the back
  • Ordering Information Location – also located towards the front instead of the last page
  • Color-coded sections are easier to see against font colors
  • Different font and larger font size makes our catalog easier to read
  • Ceramic Band Heater configuration images now show both one-piece and two-piece heaters

So, as you can tell, we have added and changed a lot about our catalog to make it both concise and complete with all the product information you need.

The New Search Function

Thermal Corporation has just launched a new and exciting feature on the website: a search function! The search function allows a customer to easily find what they are looking for on the website. It is represented at the top of each webpage as a single-line text box with a clickable button.

How it works

In the text box, the customer can type in any search term such as, “controller”, “cartridge heater”, or “thermocouple and rtd”, and then click the “Search” button beside the text box. The customer will then be redirected to the search results page.

The Search Results Page

The search results page will show links to any products, blogs, or pages on the Thermal Corporation site that are related to the customer’s search term displayed as a bulleted list. The customer can then click on any of the links in the search results list that are of interest. After clicking any link in the search results page, the customer will be redirected from the search results to the linked page they selected.

 

Back to Search Results?

There is not currently a “Back to Search Results” link available after the customer clicks one of the links on the results list. So, in order to see the results of their search again, the customer must click the back arrow on their browser or retype their search term into the search box at the top of the page. However, our web developers are currently working on getting a “Back to Search Results” feature up and running to make it easier for customers to get back to the original search results page.

Overall, we are very excited about finally getting this much needed search function onto the Thermal Corporation website! We hope it helps you navigate through our site easier and makes your experience with our company absolutely amazing!
